Safe, step-by-step cleanup tips for a faster Windows PC. You run the steps yourself.
Safety warning: Do not delete files you do not understand. These are guide steps only — this website cannot and will not directly change or delete anything on your system. Always be careful with system folders.
1 Open the Temp folder
Press Win + R, paste the command, press Enter, then delete the temporary files inside (skip any that are in use).
%temp%temp2 Disk Cleanup
Run Disk Cleanup to remove temporary files, the Recycle Bin and old system files. Choose your system drive when prompted.
cleanmgr3 Prefetch folder
The Prefetch folder helps apps start faster and Windows rebuilds it automatically. You can clear stale entries if troubleshooting.
prefetch4 Startup apps
Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → Startup apps. Disable high-impact apps you do not need at boot to speed up startup.
taskmgr5 Storage Sense
Settings → System → Storage → turn on Storage Sense to automatically clean temporary files and manage space.

In your browser press Ctrl + Shift + Del, choose Cached images and files, then clear. This frees space and fixes some loading issues.
7 Windows Update cleanup
Use Disk Cleanup → Clean up system files → tick "Windows Update Cleanup" to remove superseded update files.
cleanmgr /sageset:18 Flush DNS
If pages load slowly or fail to resolve, open Command Prompt and flush the DNS resolver cache.
