1 Open the Temp folder

Press Win + R, paste the command, press Enter, then delete the temporary files inside (skip any that are in use).

%temp%
temp

2 Disk Cleanup

Run Disk Cleanup to remove temporary files, the Recycle Bin and old system files. Choose your system drive when prompted.

cleanmgr

3 Prefetch folder

The Prefetch folder helps apps start faster and Windows rebuilds it automatically. You can clear stale entries if troubleshooting.

prefetch

4 Startup apps

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → Startup apps. Disable high-impact apps you do not need at boot to speed up startup.

taskmgr

5 Storage Sense

Settings → System → Storage → turn on Storage Sense to automatically clean temporary files and manage space.

ms-settings:storagesense

6 Browser cache

In your browser press Ctrl + Shift + Del, choose Cached images and files, then clear. This frees space and fixes some loading issues.

7 Windows Update cleanup

Use Disk Cleanup → Clean up system files → tick "Windows Update Cleanup" to remove superseded update files.

cleanmgr /sageset:1

8 Flush DNS

If pages load slowly or fail to resolve, open Command Prompt and flush the DNS resolver cache.

ipconfig /flushdns
